Develop leadership, management, problem-solving, fitness, and military skills through Âé¶¹´«Ã½â€™s Military Science minor and Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) program. Open to students across majors, the program combines academic study with extensive practical training designed to develop leadership abilities that can serve students in military and civilian careers.

  • Leadership Development: Build and refine leadership, management, decision-making, and problem-solving skills through progressively advanced ROTC training.
  • Hands-On Training: Put your learning into practice through military instruction conducted both on campus and throughout South Florida, with approximately 80 percent of training designed to be practical and hands-on.
  • Mentorship & Responsibility: Advanced cadets develop leadership experience by teaching and mentoring basic-course students and helping plan and organize training and events.
  • Explore ROTC: First- and second-year students can explore ROTC without a military service obligation unless they are ROTC scholarship recipients.

What You'll Learn

Students in the Military Science minor develop practical military knowledge and leadership skills through classroom instruction, field training, mentorship, and hands-on experiences.

Students learn to:

  • Understand military customs, courtesies, organization, and rank structure
  • Develop leadership and leadership-assessment skills
  • Practice map reading, first aid, patrolling, and other field skills
  • Develop skills in weapons handling and firing
  • Plan and organize training activities and events
  • Teach and mentor other cadets as leadership responsibilities increase

Admissions

Military Science students gain experience through indoor and outdoor training environments on PBA’s campus and throughout South Florida. ROTC training combines classroom instruction with practical field experiences that support leadership development, physical preparation, teamwork, and military skills under the guidance of experienced military personnel.
